Keep the lights on while you read this one! I can’t believe this is William Friend’s first novel. It was genuinely frightening! This story was very well-developed and eerily gratifying. The writing was so descriptive. The atmosphere he created was so creepy and haunting. I could easily feel the tension and suspense growing with each page. My heart was racing from start to finish. I could really feel the grief throughout the story. It has that creepy “The Shining” feel to it. The pacing was deliberately slow, leaving you on the edge of your seat until the incredible ending. And omg, what an ending! I nearly stopped breathing. An absolute must read for true-psychological thriller fans.
