This is my first book from Sharan Daire and I was impressed with her work. The characters are so well-developed. Sharan wrote in such a way that it made you feel connected to each character. She took the time to let you really get to know each one. Derek, Shelby and her kids’ first savoir, is a sheriff. He’s loyal and protective. His brother Kaleb is a mechanic and the biggest sweetheart of the 4 of them. Everett is hard-working, sweet, and honorable. I’m a sucker for the lost soul. For the man no one else wants and who finds himself unworthy and unredeemable. So, I’m all Team Chris, our fourth and most intense male. An ex-marine with PTSD, and a heart of pure gold. He’s the grump in the story. Gruff and hard. Shelby sees right through that hard exterior to the heart of him. Each one had an intimate connection with Shelby that went beyond just the physical. Shelby is a sweetheart who’s been treated terribly by the men in her past. These men make up for that and give her more than she ever thought possible. There were a couple of elements to the story that I didn’t care for, but it was a personal preference, not a fault in the book. Overall, I thought the storyline was great. It was detailed and intriguing. I like that there was no huge conflict marring down the storyline. I mean, there was a little conflict of course since she ran from her ex and has trust issues from that, but it added to who and why she is who she is. It added to why she and her kids deserved to be spoiled and loved by these amazing men. This sweet, insta-love, steamy audiobook is a must listen for reverse harem fans!

Vivienne Ferrari and Jack Calihan were cast perfectly for their roles. Their timing, pitch, pace, and tones were exceptional. Their characterizations for each character were unique while also complimentary to each other. I imagine it’s not always easy to make such different characters stand out from the rest, but these narrators did just that. It was a flawless performance. The parts of the story I didn’t like were made up for by their superb narration skills. They really brought this story to life. I highly recommend the audio version of Broken Down. Thank you to Pink Flamingo Productions for gifting me this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
