New ARC Review from Dana
Compassion: The Extended Edition
By Xavier Neal
“Hope is the most dangerous drug of them all.”
Xavier Neal never ceases to amaze me with her exceptional story-writing ability. Her characters are always well-developed and interesting, and this book is no exception. Jaye is such a quirky, fun, warm, and caring person. Archer is a better man than he thinks he is. He may not believe it at first, but he’s strong, worthy, and deserving of love. Jaye’s random act of kindness changes this homeless and hopeless vet’s life forever. She gives him the second chance at a life he didn’t know he needed. They took the time to get to know each other. Archer also needed that time to let himself trust and accept Jaye’s kindness and learn that he’s worthy of everything Jaye willingly offers. This story is a slow burn, giving them both time to learn and grow. Archer’s story is so heartbreaking. Jaye never gives up on him, and slowly but surely Archer gives in to hope and allows himself to be loved. Archer may think Jaye was saving him, but as their relationship grew it was clear he was the savior Jaye didn’t realize she needed. This story is solid, emotional, real, and intriguing. It’s full of compassion and desire. This book completely blew me away. Trust me, you won’t be able to put it down! Thank you to DS Promotions for gifting me this unique and inspirational romance in exchange for an honest review.
