I devoured this audiobook! Angela Snyder gives a story with a well-developed plot and gripping characters. Her story-telling ability is remarkable. Lucian and Adeline’s story sends you on a roller coaster of emotions. Lucian is so flawed and complex. Adeline has been a pawn and abuse victim her whole life by the hands of her father. She’s sweet, innocent, and pure. But Lucian and her current situation give her a backbone she never knew she had. Their pull towards each other is angsty, passionate, and intense. I love that the story (and narration) was done from the first POV’s of not just the 2 main characters but Giovanni as well. It made you really connect with them and the plot. There is one thing I disliked with the story; however, I don’t think it takes away from the stars. I wish there was more in the book as far as Lucien and Adeline’s connection. Their dynamic is unique and consuming. I feel like there was more to their growing bond that we missed out on. However, in looking at reviews on book 2, it looks like that one will delve deeper so I’m really looking forward to that. This was a gritty, raw, enigmatic, and dark story, without being bleak or depressing. The cliffhanger made me angry, seeing as ‘Saving Him’ is not out on audio yet. I’m going to need the author and Pink Flamingo to get on that pronto, please and thank you. Though I’m not the biggest fan of cliffhangers when the next audiobook isn’t readily available, I do think the story progressed substantially to that point and we were left hanging [so to speak] at an appropriate point.

Stephen Borne and Auri Alden were perfect for this story! I’d listened to Auri once before but not Stephen. They make a fantastic team, and I hope they continue as narrators for the second book. Their timing, pitch, pace, tones, and characterizations were flawless. You could tell they were connected and invested. I highly recommend the audio version of Keeping Her to truly experience the passion and complex emotions this story has to offer.
