Charmed by the Bartender

Modern Love #1

By Piper Rayne

Narrated by Joe Arden & Stephanie Rose

“Dedicated to all the ladies still looking for their very own unicorn cock.” –Piper Rayne

Whitney is down on her luck and decides to meet up with someone from Tinder. Being stood-up by someone called pussylickr69 is definitely not something her already bruised ego needed. But have no fear because the gorgeous bartender Cole is there to save the day. One too many drinks later, and Whitney is waking up in Cole’s bed with no recollection of their night together. Mortified, she does the walk of shame home. But not before leaving something pink and vibrating on his kitchen table. She doesn’t expect to ever see Cole again and goes about her life as the maid of honor in her bff Tahlia’s wedding. Tahlia and her fiancé Chase need wedding planning help from their maid of honor and bestman. The bestman, low and behold, just happens to be Cole.

“Sometimes things just happen—good and bad—for no other reason than they just do.”

To say I loved this audiobook would be an understatement. This story (previously titled The Bartender) had the perfect amount of humor, angst, and steam. Whitney and Cole are so fun, entertaining, flirty, and oh so cute. Their connection is undeniable and deliciously steamy. And I mean, who doesn’t love a magical unicorn cock?! Cole is sinfully sexy and dirty, but also sweet, caring, attentive, and loyal to a fault. The supporting characters are just as fun and endearing. This book checks all the boxes! Piper Rayne ends the story by perfectly setting us up for the next book, which I’m dying to listen to!

“When someone who’s supposed to love you treats you as if you’re disposable, it’s difficult not to see your value as less than nothing.”
Cole squeezes his eyes together like I’ve caused him physical pain. When he opens them, he pulls back just enough to pin me with his stare. “You are so much more than nothing, sweetheart. You’re the opposite. You’re everything.”

Joe Arden and Stephanie Rose were cast perfectly for their roles. Their tone, pitch, pace, and characterizations were exemplary. They expertly embraced the characters and made them their own, showing a clear connection with the storyline. They truly heightened this story for me. Joe Arden was phenomenal at embracing Cole’s swoon-worth demeanor, and Stephanie Rose was just as wonderful embracing Whitney’s strong and sassy personality. There were moments in the story of deep vulnerability, and they narrated those beautifully, making me feel every emotion deeply. I highly recommend the audiobook version of Charmed by the Bartender! Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for gifting me this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
