NEW AUDIOBOOK REVIEW FROM DANA
Reminders of Him
By Colleen Hoover
Narrated by Brittany Pressley and Ryan West
Published by Brilliance Audio
I suffered physical pains from this book. The heartache was so intense, my chest hurt. I’ve read/listened to everything Colleen Hoover has written, and I can say that hands down this is THE best story she’s ever given us. The grief, guilt, and sorrow in this story is the most intense I’ve ever experienced. Colleen has truly solidified her award-winning storytelling talent with this book. The intimacy was so intense, and I’m not talking about seggsy intimacy. I mean the real intimacy that can only come when you let your guard down and open yourself up to a person, including showing them the worst parts and hoping they love you not despite them but because of them. My heart was breaking during the entire listen, but still hopeful in waiting for redemption and forgiveness. Colleen ripped my heart right out my chest, played dodgeball with it, then stitched it up and gave it back to me. I will be buying the print version of this to re-read and mark some of the amazing quotes in it. I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to move past this book.
“It proves that time, distance, and devastation allow people enough opportunity to craft villains out of people they don’t even know.”
The narration… WOW! Brittany Pressley and Ryan West really outdid their selves in this one. Kenna’s pain is so intense. She needed an expert narrator to truly reflect that intensity, and Brittany more than succeeded in this. She IS Kenna. And Ryan West IS Ledger. Just like in the book, he perfectly compliments Kenna. This had to be a tough book to narrate, but they made it feel effortless and real. This was a truly exemplary narration. I will definitely be buying more books narrated by them.
“Grudges are heavy, but for the people hurting the most, I suppose forgiveness is even heavier.”
