Fallen Royal (Mafia Royals Book 4) by Rachel Van Dyken

This is an honest review for an arc received.

“Every kingdom needs a leader. And every fallen royal… deserves to leave behind a Queen.”

Izzy Abandanto has loved Maksim Sinacore for years. But something has to give. He’s keeps breaking her heart only to give her hope for a future the next. No matter the hurt he inflicts on her she doesn’t want to loose her best friend or her soulmate.

Can you just… exist under the stars, no love, no war, no enemies, no killing, no fighting.

Maksim Sinacore, heir to the Sinacore family, finds himself in a sea of darkness. This darkness is destroying him slowly and he’s running out of time. But leaving Izzy is his biggest fear. How do you say goodbye to the person that you’ve loved since you were eleven? How do you leave without destroying her in the process. He’s fading fast and is determined to make her hate him in order to save her. When things implode he has to face his darkness or let it consume him.

“Kiss me like you’re saying goodbye, then hold me like you’ll never let go, squeeze more; when your lips are swollen, keep kissing me, and when it breaks your heart into a million pieces, let me know so I can put them back again before I leave this room.”

5 heartbreaking stars! Rachel Van Dyken has a unique way of bringing her characters to life. Even though these are ruthless mafiosos they still have to deal with heartbreaking issues that affect everyday people. The way she wrote Maksim was the saddest, most beautiful thing I’ve ever read. Izzy shows her strength and believes that love can conquer anything. These books are amazing, but this book was by far my favorite RVD book to date.
