Heart of a Monster by Shain Rose

This is an honest review for an arc received.

“I choose death so you can live.”

Katalina (Kate) King made an unimaginable sacrifice in order to save her father when she was a child. When a tragic event happens she meets Rome, Sebastian and Cade. Rome and Kate, even as teenagers, are drawn to each other. As adults, Kate has associated herself with men that are enemies to Rome’s family. When secrets about Kate’s lineage are found out will it costs them everything?

“We choose dreams or destruction tonight.”

Rome is the enforcer for the Armanelli family. His past is dark and he lives to protect the family above all else. But Rome will stop at nothing to keep Kate safe. Although he tried (a failed) to resist her, their pull towards each other in undeniable. When Kate’s secret could doom the family, they scramble to find a solution. When Kate decides to go at it alone all bets are off.

“She is my family. And I’m hers.”

4 1/2 destructive stars. Wow! I love a strong heroine but Katalina takes the cake. She stands her ground, defends herself, but allows herself to fall for Rome. Their relationship is strained and volatile, but steamy and undeniable. This book kinda ends in a small cliffhanger, but it will leave wanting more of their story. Well done Shain Rose.
