At age 17, and after a decade of severe abuse by her brother Lucas, Sabra Valentine is finally able to breathe. Lucas is in jail and Sabra is finally free. No one knows about the abuse she suffered from her brother. And as far as Sabra is concerned, no one ever will. 7 years later Sabra is finally starting to heal and live her life, with the help of Trevor Collins. He’s tall, dark, and sexy, and he doesn’t fall for Sabra’s games. The future is finally looking bright-until one phone call shatters everything.

One word: AMAZING!  I was completely blown away by this story. There were so many twists and turns that left you on the edge of your seat. I was so engrossed in this audiobook that I couldn’t stop listening to it, angry when I had to pause it for mundane things like work and sleeping. Kate Dunbar has given us a beautifully heart-breaking story about surviving, trust, friendship, and love. The details were so vivid and emotionally charged. I felt like I was Sabra. Sabra is independent, strong, and worthy of Trevor. Trevor… omg, Trevor. Not only is he gorgeous, fun, and built like a god, he’s loyal, reliable, sensitive, empathetic, and trustworthy. Sabra and Trevor are couple goals. Their relationship was built on friendship and, with trust and compassion, grew into so much more. I can’t believe this is Kate Dunbar’s first novel. Wow! If her first book is this thrilling and alluring, I can’t wait to see what other stories she gives us!

Narrator Stella Hunter was the perfect fit for Sabra. You could feel her emotional connection to Sabra and her story. She embraced each character by expertly giving them their own voice. Her voice was captivating. I could feel everything from anger and fear to lighthearted fun and love. Perfect narration for a perfect book!
