I received this ALC in exchange for an honest review… but am purchasing the audiobook as well because I NEED it to be in my permanent queue forever.

*Finishes audiobook and takes out earbuds* Annddddd, I’m pregnant. Holy erotica, Batman, that was sexy AF! I’m pretty sure I passed out during chapter 20. Okay, let me catch my breath for a second.

The story begins with an epic battle between Abel and 7 others, in a very Games of Thrones S4E8 ‘The Mountain and the Viper’ way. Abel wins a bride for each of his brothers. And for himself, he wins Harlow, his ex-bff Eli’s woman. Eli then fights Abel and loses, making himself Abel’s 2^nd bride. To say that there are unresolved issues between these 3 would be an understatement. Queue the sexual angst and hate lust. Gah, this story was so sinfully delicious and sexy! I feel shamelessly dirty right now. Honestly though, Katee Robert created a fantastic world with factions, revenge, loyalties, and strong characters. There was great depth to the story. You got to witness 3 people finding their hearts and their selves while falling in love and forming an unbreakable bond. You got to witness revenge and loyalties take different directions and find new ground. I would have liked a little more background on the universe, factions, and politics though. I do feel the plot and storyline made up for that, but I would love to see a prologue in the next book that fills in that gap so that there’s less confusion. That being said I did see that this is a spin-off from her Wicked Villains series. And this being my first Katee Robert’s book/audio, I wasn’t already introduced to this world like her current fans. The premise, characters, and whole universe are perfect, in my opinion. This is an amazing start to a must-read new series! Is it April yet? Because I really need the next book now! Also, Katee, me and some other reviewers are a little sad because a certain thing was teased and did not happen. *cough* pegging *cough* Have you ever read a review where the person is saying there was too much sex, it was too raunchy, too kinky, etc. and so you immediately 1-clicked that book because you’re all about that sexy book-life? Well, this is that book. If you love spicy books hated by “Karen”, then you absolutely need to read this.

The narrators Tara Langella, Jake Bordeaux & Jack Calihan were cast perfectly for this story and their roles. The flow, tones, timing, and pace were perfect. I could easily distinguish between the characters. Each narrator did a phenomenal job portraying each character’s personality and emotions. I will definitely be continuing with this series and highly recommend the audiobook to anyone who loves this genre and tropes along with great narration.
