Harper finds herself trapped in an abusive marriage. When she discovers she’s pregnant, she chooses to run away and hide in order to protect herself and her child. Several years later she finds herself in the small town of Willow Creek. It’s there that Harper finds happiness working at a veterinary clinic. It’s also where she meets the veterinarians brother Logan, who also happens to be her neighbor. Their attraction to each other is instantaneous. But Harper’s fear of her ex-husband finding her and her son Flynn forces her to keep the walls around her heart up and guarded. She keeps her distance from Logan as much as possible. But Logan is determined to break through those walls and show her what it means to be loved and cherished. Logan’s love and care for Flynn slowly allows Harper to let her guard down and open up her heart to the chance of love and happiness.

This is my 3^rd A.K. MacBride book, and I’m now convinced that she can’t write anything below 5-stars. MacBride knows exactly what to write to steal my heart and make me swoon. Shattered is full of suspense, lust, teasing, passion, and sexual tension with the perfect amount of suspense and drama. I loved Logan and Harper’s back stories. They both have a troubled past that took a great deal of strength and perseverance to overcome. I adore Flynn’s relationship with Logan. Logan has so much love, care, and patience when it comes to him. Harper’s back story reminded me of the movie Sleeping with the Enemy. I always enjoy a story with a strong female lead who does what she has to in order to survive and escape abuse. I love that Logan defended Harper, took his time to listen to and get to know her, and made her feel welcome to his family. He’s a yummy, tattooed, alpha male hero who loves kids, loves his family, rescues animals, is gentle and caring, and treats his woman like a queen. Swoon! This adorable, emotional, and sweet love story is a must read that will make your heart melt!

Greg Salinas and Stacy Gonzales never disappoint as narrators. They were cast perfectly and did an amazing job. They perfectly embraced their characters and plot, leaving you captivated the entire time. They really brought the story to life.
