“You’re proof the universe gives you good for all the bad.”
You first meet Erik, as a young boy, when he is trying to contact his mom who since passed. Fast forward several years and now he is engaged to his love Eliza. Although Erik suffered a tramatic childhood, he’s determined to never be like his father. When yet another tragedy happens that directly impacts Erik and Eliza neither will ever be the same. Erik leaves town and Eliza spirals out of control. Erik is now back in town sorting through his deceased father’s belongs.
Eliza had an amazing childhood and relationship with her family. When her older sister realizes that she is now engaged to Erik an argument ensues and tragedy strikes. Eliza is now a drug user because she will do anything to numb her pain. When Erik shows back up in her life, mysterious things begin to happen, again.
This book is a solid 4 stars for me. Although this is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Crunden. You do have a few triggers (suicide and drug use) so be warned. I did like the paranormal twist to this story. It was creepy and interesting. The characters backgrounds are given and the story flows. It’s a great reminder that everything you do, whether with good intentions or not, always have consequences.
