Imperfectly perfect

This is an honest review for an Audiobook ARC received.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC [in exchange for an honest review] of the audiobook boxset THE DUETS by Meghan Quinn. The boxset includes the Blue Line Duet and The Perfect Duet.  I was going to wait to do a review for when I finished the whole audio ARC, but I decided to do individual reviews on each book and then 1 full review for the Duets.

I’m pretty sure Meghan Quinn is trying to kill me. Seriously Meghan, I’m going to send you a bill for my therapy.

First, you don’t have to read the first duet, which is Blue Line Duet, but I highly recommend it. That’s where we first meet Colby and Ryan. There’s so much that we learn about them in that first duet. I feel like having listened to that first makes this duet 10 times better because you start out already emotionally attached to the characters. Meghan Quinn is the BEST when it comes to character building. She tells their story in a way that before you know it, you’re emotionally invested in the story and will threaten violence to anyone who makes you pause this audiobook. Okay, so we have a sexy alpha male fighter pilot [drooling over Colby] and a feisty, sassy, no-filter friend (Ryan). Then there’s more sexy fighter pilot friends and the sweetest, cutest, nerdy girl you’ll ever meet. Colby Brooks is the sexiest alpha-male EVER! OMG, the dirty talk! My face is constantly flushed when he speaks. I don’t want to write a full review because I don’t want to spoil anything. I honestly am enjoying this duet a bit more than the first because of the quirkiness between the characters. There is more humor in this duet versus the first. Which for me, is a plus. But trust me, it’s not lacking in the emotion area. This book ends in a cliffhanger that has you falling off your chair. Trust me, you NEED these duets in your life! And just wait until you hear everything surrounding the title of the book. I’m still sobbing.

”To me, there is a left side of perfect. The right side of perfect is what society deems worthy of this title. It’s the kind of perfect you believe doesn’t exist, but in other’s eyes, it does. And then there is the left side of perfect, my favorite kind. That’s the kind of soul-bearing perfect, full of flaws and shortcomings. It’s the most beautiful side of perfect…the imperfect.”

Narrators Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell were perfectly cast to guide us through this journey. Joe’s voice is perfect for Colby’s young but dominating demeanor, and Maxine is perfect for Ryan’s tenacity. They help the story flow easily from one chapter to the next. The story in itself is great, but the narrators take that excellence to a higher level. Their emotional tones fit the plot, making it easy to connect to the characters. I couldn’t stop listening to this audiobook. Thank you, Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell, for bringing this beautiful book to life.
