Black List: The Rivals Book 1 by Geneva Lee

This is an honest review for an arc received.

Sterling Ford and Adair MacLaine come from two very different worlds. Adair is from a prominent family in Tennessee and to the naked eye appears to have everything a girl could desire. Sterling, is a foster child from New York, who receives a scholarship to attend a prestigious college in Tennessee, Valmont University. Here is where these two first meet. Fast forward 5 years. Suddenly, Sterling is at Adair’s father’s funeral and obviously he’s done well for himself. He is no longer the boy who comes from nothing, but a man who seems to have everything.

Unbeknownst to Adair, Sterling is back for revenge for those who wronged him five years ago. There are a lot of lies, deceit, secrecy and players that you get a little back story on. This book does end on a cliff hanger!

Mrs. Lee does an amazing job flipping from past to present so that Sterling & Adair’s stories wind a web of deceit. I’m intrigued to see where this story goes in the next book.

I give this story 4.5 stars. I will say I was a little confused at first, because you jump right in to the story, but as I read the “past” scenes the storyline made a lot more sense. There is a lot of tension between these characters and the secondary characters as well. This book was very well written.

Until Next Time…Read On!
