The whole story line is unexpected with twists that I have no words to describe. Unforeseen? Dramatic? Sadistic? Cruel? Sexy? Intense? It’s hard to describe this book. You just have to read it for yourself and experience the emotional roller-coaster ride firsthand. But you MUST have an open mind when you start reading it. C.J. Roberts challenged me as a reader. I was completely out of my comfort zone with this one. I felt anger, despair, love, lust, sick to my stomach…. I could go on and on, but you just have to read it for yourself. Despite how dark and sick this story was it was completely captivating, and I could not put it down. There’s no sugar-coating in this book. If you are looking for an erotic romance novel or BDSM book, keep walking. I started the 1st book thinking I was about to read BDSM. I was (eerily and pleasantly) wrong. So. Fucking. Wrong. I can’t count how many times I had to stop reading to breath and/or to say out loud “did I seriously just read that??!!”. I literally felt sadness and sympathy for a murdering, human-trafficking, sick bastard. WTF, Dana?! Because of the content I want to hate myself for loving The Dark Duet trilogy. But in the end the emotional turmoil is clearly what made this an exceptional read. Thank you, C.J. Roberts! You know you’ve written something amazing when your readers all experience the same amount of indescribable emotional turmoil. This story will haunt me forever. You have opened my mind. No book has ever made me feel this way before. No book has ever made me feel so emotionally conflicted. Caleb. Caleb, aka James Cole, you are the BEST anti-hero EVER!
