This book was absolutely and amazing journey about finding that one perfect someone who helps you through the darkest times of your life, but shows you that love can conquer all.
Conner & Ellie have a chance encounter 8 years prior. They have an instant connection, but neither gives the other any personal information. Conner is escaping an abusive father’s wrath after he tells him that he is leaving for basic training the next day. Ellis is engaged to a man, but is struggling with insurmountable grief, due to the loss of her parents.
They have one magical night together, where they get lost in each other, but to never see each other again. But with the connection between them being so strong, they often relive the memories of that night.
Fast forward 8 years later. Conner is forced, along with his brothers Declan, Sean & Jacob, to go back to Sugarloaf, a place they swore they would never step foot in again, to deal with their father’s will.
As chance would have it, Ellie is living net door, with her husband and daughter Hadley. Conner finds Hadley in his old tree house and the two become fast friends. Once Conner & Ellie see each other again, they both realize that their connection is still there.
Conner is the one that helps Ellie out of her nightmare and promises that he will never allow anyone to hurt her or Hadley ever again. As their feelings grow, a dark secret from Conner’s past threatens their future. Ellie had to confront a secret of her own.
This book was an amazing first book in this new series. I can’t wait for the rest of the brother’s stories, especially, if they are anything like this book.
