I purchased J.R. Ward’s newest book Consumed this past weekend at Readers On The River. To say that I was anxiously awaiting the release of this book is an understatement. Add in the fact that we were able to purchase this book even before its official release was just an added bonus.
In order to really be introduced to this new cast of characters, I highly suggest that you read the Wedding From Hell, parts 1-3 (all free on Amazon). This will give you a really good idea of the main group of characters and some background about them.
Anne Ashburn, is the only woman firefighter at station 499 and she is following the legacy of her father and brother. While fighting a warehouse fire, she breaks protocol and procedures and ultimately suffers a life altering injury. But, her decision impacts not only her life, but also her fellow 449 firefighter, Danny Maguire.
Danny Maguire is the firehouse’s resident playboy. He gets any girl he wants any time he wants. But the only person he has ever loved has been his partner, Anne. But the events and circumstances of the night he found Anne trapped in the warehouse fire, drastically impacts not only his life but Anne’s as well. After sustaining significant injuries himself, he recklessly throws himself into harmful situations. How will he ever forgive himself? Will Anne ever forgive him?
After, the events of the warehouse fire Anne, must find her way through a new way of life. She is no longer employed with the 449, so she is searching for her new identity. One night, brings Anne and Danny back together again, and the sparks are ignited.
Anne finds herself investigating several warehouse fires and finds herself the target of an arsonist. Danny will never allow harm to come to Anne again, and helps her track down her suspect.
From beginning to end, the book had me captivated. I mean, who doesn’t like fireman who carry long hoses, and are built just like our be,over BDB boys!
J. R. Ward out did herself with the first book in this series. Can’t wait for the next book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 stars!
Until next time…Read On!
