“You can take the girl out of the library, but you can’t take the neurotic, compulsively curious librarian out of the girl.”

This week I want to talk to you about the awesomeness of Molly Harper’s books. 5 years ago I bought “The Undead In My Bed” (Undead Sublet” from Audible as a free download. It is #2.5 in the Half Moon Hollow series.

In “Undead Sublet” by Molly Harper, executive chef Tess Maitland is banned from her five-star kitchen in Chicago to recover from “exhaustion”. Choosing a random rental house in Half-Moon Hollow to spend time in, she’s unaware that the house comes with a strange man. Even though Sam Masden’s ex-wife has rented the house out from under him, the divorce settlement allows him access to it for another ninety days. With Tess unable to go anywhere else, and Sam unwilling, a war of epic proportions is declared – and romantic sparks and heavy pots fly.

From there I went on to read the entire Half Moon Hollow series and the Jane Jameson series. Molly Harper’s writing style can best be described as witty and quirky. She made this town called Half Moon Hollow come to life. In Half Moon Hollow, vampires and humans live and work together, side by side. Think, True Blood but quirkier. Molly gives us the most amusing characters. Her stories and the shenanigans that take place in them are clever, laugh out loud funny and thoroughly enjoyable. I don’t even read the synopsis to any of Molly Harpers books. I just buy them and start listening.

Last year I got to meet Molly Harper at NOLA Story Con. I was a few minutes late to the start of the first panel… I walked in to a panel with Molly Harper, Jay Wells, Kevin Hearne, Darynda Jones, and another author (can’t remember his name). I walked in right before they started talking about Molly’s newest book that was about to be released, “Sweet Tea and Sympathy”, which starts her newest series, Southern Eclectic. It takes place in a funeral home in Georgia. Well, its half funeral home and half bait shop. I did mention Molly Harper wrote quirky books, right? After meeting her last year, listening to her at authors panels and sitting at her author table for dinner, and following her on Facebook… well… Molly and her life with family and friends is just as witty and humorous as her books. She is amazing, and I want to live in Half Moon Hollows.

Happy reading!
